Practices and Policies

  1. Efficient water taps in both toilets only heat when needed

  2. Small hot water heater in kitchen adequate for requirements

  3. LED lights where possible

  4. Efficient Thermostatically controlled room heaters

  5. Triple glazing

  6. Heaters and lights only switched on when room is in use

  7. Kitchen hot water heater only used when is absolutely necessary – takes 10 mins to heat so switched off at all other times

  8. Kitchen kettle only filled with as much as is needed

  9. Efficient hot water urns used during group activity rather than a kettle

  10. Fridge kept between 3-5 degrees Celsius

  11. Dishwasher only used when completely full

  12. Nontoxic cleaning and handwash products used where possible

  13. Printers to be switched off when not in use

  14. Recycled or recyclable paper in the printer

  15. Recycle wastepaper

  16. Batteries disposed of in the correct way and not in the general waste. Rechargeable batteries to be used where possible

  17. Purchases where possible, to be Local; Fairtrade; Recycled; Rechargeable

  18. Encourage plastic free by offering water and drinks in glasses and mugs

  19. Monitor waste -recycle where possible. Look for opportunities to prevent or reduce waste
